Perrysville—Dale E. Hughes, 94, Danville, Ill., a former Perrysville resident, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 1989, at Covington Manor Health Care Center.
  He was born May 15, 1895, in Gessie, the son of Albert and Cassie Ellen Hughes Hughes. He was married Nov. 22, 1922, to Inez Wait, who preceded him in death March 29, 1985.
  He was a 1912 graduate of Perrysville High School and a 1917 graduate of Purdue University, where he played baseball and football. He lived in Gessie and Perrysville until 1969, when he moved to Danville. He was postmaster at Perrysville for 25 years, retiring May 31, 1965.
  He was an Army veteran of World War I. He enjoyed all sports and was a Cubs fan.
  He was a member of Coal Branch Church, Unity Lodge 344, F&AM for 50 years and Walter Hoyt Post 350 American Legion. He was a charter member of Perrysville Lions Club and member of American Association of Federal Retired Persons.
  Surviving are a son, William Dale, Route 2, Covington; a granddaughter, Mrs. Lynn (Marsha) Manley, Route 2, Covington; two great grandchildren, Timothy Dale and Kristen Kaye Manley, and a nephew, Jack Hughes, Terre Haute. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Friday) at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with the Rev. Grover Williams officiating. Burial will be in Hicks Cemetery with military services.
